With 38 years of military career within the Colombian Army, General (Ret.) Salazar served as the Colombian Armed Forces Joint Command Chief of Staff, War School Director, Armed Forces Director for Strategic Review and Innovation, Chief of Military Operations, Chief Commander of Army Logistics among other positions.

He is a professional in Business Administrator from the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Civil and Military Engineer from the Escuela de Ingenieros, Doctor in International Law (Cum Lauden) from the Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio in Spain, Specialization in Management, Administration of Resources for the National Defense, and Senior Business Management (INALDE).

He holds numerous distinctions and decorations earned for his humanistic and leadership attributes, in his long commendable military career.
